Extracurricular project, became flagship product of TEPLE inc.
Dr. Fraser Rubens

The TEPLE (Temporary Epicardial Pacing Lead Extractor) is the result of an exciting collaboration with Dr. Fraser Rubens, cardiac surgeon at the Ottawa Heart Institute, with the aim of developing a device that automates the extraction process of temporary epicardial wires. The device is, as of December 2014, the flagship product of our startup company, TEPLE inc.
The TEPLE system consists of a hand-held device that is used along with disposable cartridges.
The first functional prototype iteration was constructed using various rapid prototyping and machining techniques. It will be used as a proof of concept to test the features of the device.
Rendering showing the internal mechanisms of the device.
The electrical circuit built to automate the functions of the device.
Renderings showing how the device might look as a final, miniaturized product.
An aesthetic prototype based on the miniaturized concept was produced using 3D printing to test the ergonomics of the device.
